Here at CRL, we love meeting our customers face to face at trade shows and events. It really gives us the opportunity to showcase our products, discuss the customers’ needs and find the right Rooflight to suit them. Recently, we had a successful meeting with some satisfied customers, John and Christine Miles at the Homebuilding and Renovating Show.
The Homebuilding and Renovating Show is the UK’s biggest event for self-builders, renovators, and tradespeople. With over 300+ industry exhibitors at each show covering everything from insulation to gutters to light switches and hot tubs they are a must visit if you are renovating your home. There’s also lots of seminars and masterclasses where you can learn from experts in the industry.
We had first spoken to Christine and John Miles in 2023 ahead of the show. They contacted us to enquire about a triple glazed flat rooflight and aluminium bi-fold doors. Mr and Mrs Miles had recently bought an 18th century cottage which was beautiful and full of character, but it was a little dark. It lacked a bright, spacious room, where the family could sit and enjoy the views of the countryside in the distance, so they were planning to build extension.
They were lucky enough to have a nephew who’s an engineer with building contacts to undertake the work. One of his contacts had bought from CRL in the past and recommended us to Mr and Mrs Miles. This is the stage they were at when we first spoke to them about rooflights and bifold doors to suit their extension.
At the time in the office, we were preparing for the Homebuilding & Renovating Show in Surrey the upcoming weekend. For the three-day weekend show we were getting ready to showcase our products, including our triple glazed flat rooflights, walk on rooflights, Juliet balconies, Korniche aluminium bifold doors, Korniche aluminium roof lanterns and electric opening rooflights.
As we discovered that they live near Surrey, we invited them to come and experience our products in person and talk to our expert team about their requirements at The Homebuilding & Renovating Show. The shows are a great way to compare different products side by size as we know it’s hard to judge things online. Using our Homebuilding & Renovation Show ticket link they applied for two free tickets to the show and planned to go along on the Saturday.

It was a pleasure to meet Mr and Mrs Miles at the show, see their extension plans and discuss their ideas. Our team demonstrated our triple glazed flat rooflights, aluminium bifold doors, Juliet balconies and electric opening rooflights. We were able to give the couple a live quote and they could see, feel and use our products on our stand before committing.
Christine and John Miles went on to order an 800mm x 2000mm triple glazed flat rooflight, 2100mm x 4000mm aluminium bifold doors and 1100mm x 2000mm Juliet balcony. We can’t wait to see their finished extension.
